6 THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW IF YOUR WASHER WON'T START
You put a load in the washer, you select your cycle and press Start, and nothing happens. What could be going on?
Let’s start with the basics – try pushing and holding the Start button for 3 seconds. If that still doesn’t work, here are six additional things to check:
1. DO YOU HAVE A PROPER ELECTRICAL CONNECTION AND SUPPLY?
Make sure the power cord is plugged into a grounded three-prong outlet, not an extension cord. Then check your household circuit breaker, Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI), and/or fuses to make sure they’re in good working order.
2. IS THE CONTROL LOCKED?
If your washer has an electronic touchpad, tap the text – not the lights – to operate. If the Control Lock light is on, hold the Control Lock button for three seconds to unlock the control.
3. HAS THE CONTROL BEEN SET CORRECTLY?
Make sure the selector knob is completely lined up with a cycle selection before pushing the Start button. If the selector knob and cycle aren’t completely synced up, the cycle won’t start.
4. IS THE DOOR LOCKED?
The door may appear closed, but may not be locked. Try opening and closing the door firmly.
5. HAS THE DELAY START SETTING BEEN ACTIVATED?
If so, start will be delayed accordingly. Be sure that it hasn’t been activated accidentally.
6. ARE YOU USING AN ANTI-FLOOD DEVICE?
We recommend appliances be connected directly to the water supply for optimal performance. If you are, however, using an anti-flood device, check with the manufacturer to be sure it won’t affect your washer’s performance.
