RANGES TROUBLESHOOTING: NOISES AND DOOR ISSUES
Having trouble opening your oven door? Or is it making a noise you’ve never heard from it before? Let’s find out what’s going on.
Noises
Humming
Here are some things that could be happening:
- On a gas range, this could be because the Cooktop Lock feature is on.
- On an electric range, cooking on a high power setting can cause this.
- Sometimes the automatic cooling fan can make this noise.
- You might hear this noise if your cooktop has a downdraft vent system.
For electric ranges – Beeping
This could mean a utensil has been left on the burner. Remove it right away.
Door locked
Door locked when starting the oven
Press Cancel/Off to start a latch reset, then wait 20 to 30 seconds and open the door. If that doesn’t work, turn the power off and on at the circuit breaker or fuse box.
If oven has a manual latch handle
Allow the oven to cool completely, about 30 to 90 minutes, then move the latch arm to the left to unlock the door. If the latch arm still won’t move, you may need a professional repair.
Power failure during self clean
Re-select Self Clean, then select Cancel. After a few minutes, start the cycle again.
